How Automated Detention Pay Works

1

GPS Geofence Detects Arrival

When you arrive at a shipper or receiver facility, our GPS geofence automatically logs your exact arrival time. No manual check-in required.

Geofence radius is configurable per facility. Works even in areas with limited cell service — data syncs when connection is restored.

2

Free Time Countdown Begins

The standard 2-hour free time window starts counting down. Both you and the shipper can see the timer.

Free time is configurable in the rate confirmation — 1 hour, 2 hours, or custom. The rate con sets the terms before you accept the load.

3

Detention Billing Activates

When free time expires, detention billing starts automatically at the agreed-upon rate ($75/hr default). The shipper receives a live counter link.

The shipper can see the running detention cost in real-time via a shared link. This creates urgency to get you loaded/unloaded faster.

4

Shipper Auto-Billed on Departure

When you leave the facility, the final detention amount is calculated and the shipper's card on file is charged via Stripe.

Shippers pre-authorize a card when they post loads on TRU LOAD. Detention charges are processed automatically — no invoicing required.

5

Funds to Your Account

After a 30-minute dispute window, the detention payment is released directly to your account. Typical deposits within 24 hours.

The dispute window protects against GPS errors or legitimate shipper concerns. In practice, less than 2% of detention charges are disputed.
